Dziedzic Farms includes 780 cows, 600 youngstock and 2,000 crop acres in two counties. Owners Paul and Kitty Dziedzic work with Crop Growers Insurance Services agent Steve Prutsman for insurance coverage. Kitty shared their experience with Financial Partner Magazine:

“Paul and I started farming in 1973 with 29 cows and went from there. We are still investing and growing. We see a good future in the dairy industry. This is a high investment business –you need to protect your assets. Risk management is an important part of every business. Insurance is one thing you hope you don’t need, but can help when you do.

“Our farm covers such a large area that CAT [catastrophic coverage] is not useful. We started using crop insurance a few years ago when a farm neighbor told us we could break our silage and high moisture corn acreage into units. In 2004, we had preventative planting and Crop Revenue Coverage (CRC) policy claims paid on one or two units due to the amount of rain.

“Our policies are automatically renewed each Spring. Steve always helps us figure out what coverage and buy-up levels are most cost effective. Every year we learn a little more about the programs. Whenever we need him, Steve has been here.”
