Investing in Western New York's Future
Scholarship Program
Background
- Western New
York will award three $2,000 scholarships ($1,000 for two semesters)
.
- Payment will
be made directly to students at the beginning of the first and second
semesters at $1,000 for each semester.
- Scholarships
can be used to defray the cost of tuition, room and board, books, and
other academic charges.
- Applicants
are eligible to be awarded this scholarship only once in their education
career.
- Award decisions
are based on scholastic achievement, essay content, extracurricular
activities and interest in ag business.
- Scholarship
winners will be given priority for an internship with Farm Credit of
WNY in the summer following their junior year.
Eligibility
- Applicants
must be enrolled in or matriculating in an agricultural college or university
that offers an associate's degree in agriculture or a bachelor's of
science degree.
- Applicants
must reside in one of the 16 counties served by Farm Credit of WNY (Genesee,
Erie, Livingston, Wyoming, Monroe, Orleans, Niagara, Wayne, Ontario,
Cayuga, Yates, Seneca, Allegany, Cattaraugus, Steuben & Chautauqua).
- Applicants
must be pursuing a course of study in agriculture or a closely related
field.
Other
- Farm Credit of WNY employees and
directors and their immediate family members are ineligible to apply.
The Association reserves the right to reject any and all applications
if they are deemed not to meet scholarship qualifications.
- We also reserve
the right to extend the application period if a sufficient number of
applications have not been received by the deadline.
Application
- Upon Board approval, applications for the 2009-2010 school year will be available at March end 2009.
